General Data Protection Regulation

In accord with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) – available in Czech and English, and in accord with Zákon č. 110/2019 Sb.,by submitting this application, or its part, I hereby acknowledge that Nadace The Bakala Foundation (seat Tržiště 13, Praha 1 – Malá Strana, IČ: 27921247; hereinafter “the Foundation”) will collect and process my personal information and information of a sensitive nature within the scope outlined in this application form and in the supporting documents (hereinafter “Personal Data”).

I understand that the Foundation processes Personal Data for the following purposes:

  1. Evaluation, comparison, and eventual selection of the applicant for the Bakala Foundation Scholarship;
  2. Measurement and evaluation of the Bakala Foundation Scholarship selection process, criteria and program overall; and,
  3. Communication with the applicant, which includes communication about the Bakala Foundation Scholarship selection process, and communication about other programs, events, and activities of the Foundation.

I understand that the legal basis for the processing of Personal Data is the legitimate interest of the Foundation to:

  1. Assure the maximum transparency, objectivity, and fairness of the Bakala Foundation Scholarship selection process;
  2. Prevent potential fraudulent behavior of the applicants;
  3. Measure, evaluate, and optimize the selection process and the Bakala Foundation Scholarship program as a whole; and
  4. Inform applicants about the outcomes of the selection process, as well as about the programs and activities of the Foundation.

I understand that the Foundation may appoint the providers of web hosting services, the application form software solution, and the applications database (hereinafter “the Providers”) to process Personal Data on behalf of the Foundation. The Providers shall process the Personal Data solely in the manner and for the purposes defined and/or approved by the Foundation, may not use the Personal Data for any other purpose, and may not share it with other entities. As an example, The Foundation uses the services of Google such as, but not limited to electronic mail and data storage, and certain parts of the application data may be processed by Google.

I understand that the Foundation needs to share Personal Data with the members of the selection committee of the Bakala Foundation Scholarship program. Members of the selection committee may use Personal Data solely for the purpose of the evaluation of the application and selection of the Scholars. The members of the selection committee may not process Personal Data once the selection process of the Bakala Foundation Scholarship is finalized, which typically occurs within nine months following the application submission.

I understand that the Foundation will process Personal Data for the period which ends at the end of the year in which the applicant reaches the age of 33, which is the last year in which the person can apply for the Bakala Foundation Scholarship.

I understand that Personal Data processing is a necessary part of the selection process and Scholarship award. In such case where the applicant decides to limit the processing of Personal Data by the Foundation, the Foundation reserves the right to exclude the applicant from the selection process or even from the Bakala Foundation Scholarship program as a whole.

I understand that regarding Personal Data I have the right to:

  1. Request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability; and
  2. Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
